Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is the latest advancement in hair loss therapy. PRP is done by taking a small sample of your blood and then spinning that sample in a specialized centrifuge. At the end of the preparation, your blood has been divided into 3 main parts:  red and white blood cells at the bottom of the tube, a thin layer of platelets in the middle, and plasma at the top. We take the middle section of plasma with all the platelets in it (which is platelet-rich) and then inject it into the scalp where there is hair loss. In order to help the procedure go more smoothly and comfortably for you, we provide numbing to the front of the hairline so the rest of the injections are not felt.   Platelets contain 3 main components: clotting factors, healing factors, and growth factors. When the PRP is injected into the scalp the platelets release their factors and the healing and growth factors work to repair the hair follicles and stimulate hair regrowth.

The treatment protocol is to complete 3 sessions in the first 3 months. This is done to both stop ongoing hair loss as quickly as we can and to start the process of hair regrowth as the hair follicles are nurtured to recover and regrow.

PRP can be done for both men and women. It is a great option for women who are experiencing hair thinning or hair loss, even at earlier stages. For men, PRP can quickly help to stabilize the hair loss and regrow the hair. For people with a completely smooth scalp, PRP may not provide much benefit as the hair loss may be too advanced.

One PRP session is generally repeated every 6 months to maintain the results.
